Astrobiology
Astrobiology is an interdisciplinary field of science that explores the origins, evolution, distribution, and future of life in the universe. It combines elements of biology, astronomy, chemistry, geology, and planetary science to understand the potential for life beyond Earth, the conditions that support life, and the mechanisms by which life might originate and evolve in various environments. Astrobiologists study extreme environments on Earth to gain insights into potential extraterrestrial habitats, evaluate the habitability of other planets and moons, and investigate the biochemical processes that could underlie life in different contexts. This field also includes the search for extraterrestrial intelligence (SETI) and the exploration of planetary systems for signs of life.
